Adult Basic Education
This service provides support for adults who wish to brush up on the reading, writing, numeracy and basic computer skills. Classes offered on a one to one or group basis and are free of charge.
English for Speakers Of Other Languages
There are English classes available at all levels for speakers of other languages. They are free of charge for people who are unemployed and there is a charge for others.
Back to Education Initiative
This initiative provides part-time education programmes for young people and adults. Programmes are offered in the mornings, afternoons, in the evenings or at weekends. Example of courses includes Childcare, Beginners Computers, ECDL, Cookery and Business.
Community Education
Community education provides funding for Community Groups throughout the County to provide education opportunities. Example of such groups would be Active Age, Irish County Women’s Association, Community and Men’s Groups. Courses vary from Sign Language, Arts & Crafts, Computers and Personal Development.
Evening Classes
A variety of part-time hobby and leisure courses are offered in Secondary Schools around the County. Examples include: languages, computers and arts and crafts. There is usually a fee payable for these courses.
Post Leaving Certificate (PLC) courses
PLC’s are full-time QQI Level 5 and Level 6 certified courses that may be used to gain employment or as a stepping stone to higher education. A QQI Level 5 qualification is the equivalent level to a full Leaving Certificate and a QQI Level 6 equates to first year in an HEI.

- Advanced Certificate in Business Administration
