Distance Learning

Distance learning is an option whereby students can study at home in their own time and at their own pace. Access to lectures and class materials is through technology such as the internet, videoconferencing and correspondence.

Often the demands of work or family mean that you are unable to commit to full-time study and distance learning offers an alternative to attending traditional classes. Open Learning, On-Line Learning and Distance Learning are all other names for Distance Education.

Many higher education institutions have Distance Learning Programmes. The Open University and Oscail are well known providers of distance education but please see our links section to find out about some more.
